    Not DermaPet, May 5, 2013

    I ordered “DermaPet Malacetic Otic”.

The brand is “DermaPet”, the bottle is white with red lettering. It’s well known.

I received “Malacetic Otic” by Dechra Phramaceuticals. It’s a white bottle with aqua lettering. It is not DermaPet.

In 2010, Dechra Pharmaceuticals purchased DermaPet. It’s very likely that the contents of the bottles are the same. It’s very possible that DermaPet is no longer active as a brand, and that everything is made under the Dechra brand.

BUT I ordered “DermaPet” – not Dechra, or any other line by the same manufacturer. The products don’t say dermapet on them, they don’t look like the picture, and they’re very simply not what was ordered.

I was still given a good , competitive price for Dechra MalAcetic Otic. I’d give this 5Stars if that’s what I ordered, however the seller explicitly listed this as “DermaPet” , even putting the brand name in quotes, so this deserves 1star.

I don’t care for the smell, but I find that supplementing my vet’s prescription with Malacetic Otic clears up ear problems (swollen painful ears, brown gook, discolored skin/hair loss outside the ear) MUCH faster. Problems that once seemed chronic disappear quickly. (The very first time I used Malacetic Otic, my dog’s condition was so severe, it took several weeks to clear. Now, if I catch things early, problems are resolved in one or two days.)

Excellent ear cleaner for dogs. My vet prescribed it for my cockapoo’s ears. I put a few drops in his ears every 4 days and he never has ear infections any more. It smells like apricots, which is not bad at all. I recommend this medication.
