   You often hear the adage “You get what you pay for”. In this case, it is absolutely true. I balked at spending money on this thing and thought that I was quite happy with the knock offs I was using. This thing is really light and pliable, unlike my dupe which was thick and heavy (now that I actually have the real thing to compare it to). I use less product with this and a little goes a long way. I even use it damp to apply my powder after my RCMA foundation, which is in solid form. The end result is picture perfect. I like this better than my foundation brushes. It is very easy to clean. I just put a few drops of antibac in some warm water in the basin and give it a few squeezes, then rinse. My dupe was very difficult to clean and after a few uses started to tear in places. I am a makeup whore and former Estee Lauder MUA and love gadgets and products that improve upon your makeup skills. I just got it, so I will follow up in a while with the usage and wear and tear.

   Disclaimer:

   I am writing a review of the product here because some of the sources for the product on Amazon have sold dupe sponges in original packaging, and have led customers to leave unfair reviews of the item. Beware that when buying here, there is a chance of getting a dupe item. I received two sponges which differed greatly in quality not only from the originals, but from each other, when they were in the same package! The sponges themselves were not nearly as soft as the originals, did not expand as much when wet, were slightly narrower, bounced back much faster (and therefore leaves a terrible texture when applying make up), and were weirdly firm. One of them was softer than the other, but not comparable to the original, which I have owned several of.

   I am a massive beauty junkie and EXTREMELY skeptical of EVERYTHING, especially products with hype around them. I have tried an overwhelming number of hyped beauty items (on myself and others) and found many to not live up to their claims.

   The Beauty Blender blew my expectations away, however. The sponges are INCREDIBLY soft and unlike any other sponge product on the market. Since the day I got my first set over 2 years ago, I have used them to apply my make up (I find that Revlon Colorstay Oil/Combination formula is the best texture of make up to apply with this, and vice versa) EVERY day with them. I wash them every 5-7 days with an oil emulsion cleanser (they dissolve MUCH more residue in much less liquid, and since you’re working within the confines of a sponge, the oil will clean way more efficiently and thoroughly). My first set last me just about 2 years before finally beginning to tear and have seemingly unwashable patches of make up residue. Since Revlon Colorstay is an ultra long lasting make up which “sets,” it is particularly difficult to wash off.

   The Beauty Blender sponge reduces my foundation application time by 2/3 to 3/4. It takes SO much longer to get good coverage and a perfect finish with fingers or a brush (and I own MANY high quality brushes) that I literally have not used those methods in 2 years. The pillowy, soft surface stamps the perfect amount of foundation with a beautifully even texture very quickly. The only drawback is that they waste a lot of make up.

   I would HIGHLY recommend the Beauty Blender for personal use. They are not hygenic enough or easily cleaned for a make up artist’s use, however.

   If you haven’t used a beauty blender you need to buy one now. It gives you the most perfect finish and a look that’s soooo flawless. Easy to use and easy to clean. I love this product and have the pink ones and this one. Highly recommend.
